The VP of Operations role is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the leader of the Bell/Giro Fox Business Unit. This individual will work across the Bell, Giro & Fox brands, and collaborate cross-functionally with the broader Vista Outdoor team around the world, in addition to partners and stakeholders from business supporting our Brands. The VP of Operations will lead flawless execution for all manufacturing, production, distribution, logistics, sourcing, S&OP, supply chain, customer service and quality related functions worldwide. This individual will maintain control of business operations and responsible for implementing the overall business strategy, so they must be an experienced and efficient leader.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish efficient and effective Global Operations framework that delivers a competitive advantage for Bell, Giro, & Fox
  • Drives and executes against strategic value creation priorities across operations and supply chain
  • Evaluates current global operational structure and addresses operational gaps
  • Assess talent, current processes, and aligns strategy, structure and talent, recommends and implements new processes.
  • Manages Global Sourcing, Supply Chain and Logistics (Asia development, sourcing, QC. Suppliers, global DC footprint)
  • Evaluate and consolidate current operation and distribution model in North America, Europe and future options in Asia as Fox, Bell & Giro integrate
  • Assess organization roles and responsibilities in Asia and expanded development capability to support Supplier management, Sourcing, Compliance, etc. and implement new structure accordingly
  • Provide support and recommendations around IT and systems related support to operational and business processes including but not limited to ERP and WMS
  • Evaluates supplier performance, develops strategic plans and creates long term plan for innovation support and growth
  • Work with business leaders to support “winning portfolio” supply chain simplification and SKU reduction
  • Evaluate current real estate footprint in line with leadership team and make recommendations for consolidation/simplification
  • Develop strategies to expand operationally into South America and Asia to support expanded D2C and in market presence.
  • Develops and directs operational activities for all manufacturing related areas and functions.
  • Manage the compilation of data from multiple sources (field input, historical, seasonal, life cycle, etc.) and complete a monthly forecast either by customer or by SKU using SAP data points to develop a consolidated and consensus forecast by brand and category.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales functions to ensure inventory levels will meet sales plan as well as corporate inventory objectives to efficiently use working capital. Identify potential inventory shortfall and/or overage early and fast.
  • Oversee the supply chain team to identify and address any raw material or external factory capacity issues that may impact demand planning.
  • Assist in the development of new business forecasts. Work closely with Marketing to improve new category forecasting accuracy.
  • Ensures appropriate implementation and standardization of quality processes throughout the company.
  • Plans, prioritizes and budgets all manufacturing related activities in support of the annual business plan.
  • Communicates operations related information and issues to other functional area leaders including Brand Management, Engineering, R&D, Human Resources, Finance, Sales and Marketing as required.
  • Creates plans for the most effective use of workforce, materials, inventory and equipment to meet customer requirements and company objectives.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, or Business required. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years related experience in manufacturing and production-related areas with a minimum of five (5) years in a manufacturing management role.
  • Minimum five to seven (5-7) years experience in developing and implementing manufacturing related initiatives, preferably in the consumer products or sporting goods industry.
  • Demonstrated history of achievement in a consumer-driven, manufacturing operations environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of lean practices and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong proficiency in MS applications primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience desirable.
