We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Controller/Director of Accounting to support the preparation of financial statements that adhere to regulatory and accounting guidelines. Working under the guidance of a Controller, you will play a crucial role in identifying and rectifying discrepancies while assisting in the establishment of effective control systems.To excel in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of accounting principles. As an organized professional with keen attention to detail, you should be dependable and capable of working independently and collaboratively.Your primary objective will be to ensure that the company’s accounting and financial processes meet established standards, promoting accurate financial reporting and effective control. Reporting to a financial controller, you will be an integral part of the finance team.What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
  • Participate in preparation for the annual audit and bank audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
  • Utilize SAP system to facilitate processes and maintain records.
  • Reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing.
  • Ensure detailed review, analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in managing Concur and the AP process.
  • Assist with ADP and the Payroll process.
  • Assist in distributing monthly financial statements and analysis packet.
  • Assist in the monthly accrual process.
  • Assist in compiling daily cash update reports and 13-week cash forecasts.
  • Maintain banking relationships and identify opportunities to better utilize the organizations bank services.
  • Conduct short-term cash flow forecasting and continuous improvement of the cash forecast process.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes related to cash activities.
  • Maintain all Cost Accounting including capitalization of freight and duties and inventory roll forward schedules.
  • Managing the Insurance Policy process.
  • Responsible for overseeing State sales tax returns.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience and knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • 5 + years of experience working with accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
  • Flexible, team player, works well with several different departments, patient.
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP)
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to making kindness in business a standard
  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
