As a member of the Data Science & Analytics team, you will become the company expert on data related to all things Operations, including Customer Care, Warehouse Operations, and Inventory. Our operations are key to the company’s ability to live up to our mission to provide our customers with concierge level service and you will be an integral part of ensuring we succeed. You will work on a variety of projects across the company’s Operations from forecasting future inventory demand and building out an accurate source of truth on inventory stock, to ensuring we can fulfill every order, to working with our COO and defining key metrics and visibility for performance management. You will work with stakeholders across the business to help them make smarter, data driven decisions and inform company-wide strategy as we continue to grow.

What You'll Do

  • Lead analytics projects to monitor the health of our Operations business and solve a wide range of business problems to inform data-driven strategic and operational decisions
  • Work closely with Operations stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Build source of truth for inventory data and automate monthly inventory reconciliation with operations and finance teams
  • Define KPIs across Operations and develop and own business intelligence dashboards to provide ongoing tracking and insights to Operations partners
  • Build and improve advanced analytical models, such as our inventory size predictions and shipment forecasting, to allow team to be forward looking in identifying and solving potential inventory shortages
  • Collaborate with data engineering to ensure that we have accurate source of truth data to serve needs across our Operations organizations, including Customer Care data (Zendesk), Warehouse Operations and Inventory (High Jump), and Planning (Anaplan)
  • Engage associates on the warehouse floor, customer care agents, and operations leadership to identify obstacles and implement data analytics and tools to help improve their day-to-day business decisions and operations

Who you are

  • A problem solver that is excited to take on new challenges and, given context, being self-directed and enthusiastic about owning your work autonomously
  • You use SQL every day to help companies understand their operations and make data-driven decisions, preferably with experience working with warehouse, inventory, and/or customer care data
  • An empathetic analyst that thrives as a true partner to business stakeholders and understanding their needs, building strong relationships to achieve the shared goal of using analytics and insights to drive the business forward
  • A storyteller that uses data visualization to communicate insights effectively to a variety of stakeholders; Tableau experience is a plus
  • You have a strong understanding of business statistics, forecasting and predictive analytics
  • You show modesty, kindness and support to your team and the people you work with
  • Bonus points for experience with similar data stacks and tools: Zendesk, Highjump, Snowflake, dbt, Tableau

About The Black Tux

The Black Tux was founded in 2013 by Andrew Blackmon and Patrick Coyne,  longtime friends who, while preparing for Andrew’s wedding in 2011, saw an opportunity  to offer men an alternative to traditional tuxedo and suit rental outlets. After their  experience renting for Andrew’s wedding, they decided to explore different ways to  improve the tuxedo rental process.
